How To Clean An Umbrella Stroller

Two years ago we bought this stroller and had it sent to my in law’s to use when we visit. We loved it so much that we ended up bringing it back home with us. Since then it has gotten a ton of daily use and we take it everywhere we travel. It is super comfortable, lightweight, and doesn’t take up much space. Kind of the perfect stroller right?

Well, with all that use it didn’t take long for it to get dirty. I’m kind of a clean freak so I had to find a way to get it clean and looking like new again. I’m going to show you just how easy it is to do that! By cleaning it every few months it stays looking as new as the day we bought it.

An easy and inexpensive way to keep your stroller looking brand new!

First you’ll want to wash off the outer most layer of nastiness. It sounds weird but I actually open the stroller up, stick it in the shower, and turn the shower on for a few minutes. You could also do this outside with a hose.

Fold the stroller up and lay it in the bathtub. Run a bath with hot water and add about a half load’s worth of liquid laundry detergent.

Fill it up and let it sit for a few minutes. Come back and agitate it a bit by swooshing the stroller back and forth in the soapy water. Do this a few times rotating the stroller so all of it has a chance to be covered in the water. I usually let the stroller sit there for at least an hour.

Drain the tub. This is what was left at the bottom of the tub. Gross…

Open the stroller and give it another “shower” or rinse it off outside. Dry as much as you can with a towel then leave it out to dry for at least a day until folding it back up. I usually stick it in a room under a fan, but if you have a nice breeze going you can leave it outside.

Now your stroller should be as good as new. Seriously, look at these clean wheels…

We’ve gotten more than two years of use out of this stroller and you can’t even tell! It has held up extremely well, but cleaning it regularly really helps. Think about all the nice strollers you find at yard sales that need a little tlc. This would be a great way to clean them up.
