Valentine's Day Heart Shaped Straw Topper | Parental Perspective

Since I’ve had my Silhouette I use pretty much every excuse I can to play with it. Would I normally go all out on Valentine’s Day for my boys who aren’t into all things lovey dovey? Nah. Having my Silhouette changes everything though! Just a few clicks and I can decorate to my heart’s content. Why not make some heart shaped straw toppers?

Of course the Silhouette was handy for this project, but scissors would do the trick too. I used a simple heart shape that was about 2 inches wide. In the middle you’ll want to cut two horizontal slits for the straw to go through. The slits should each be about 3/4″ long. Space them 1/4″ apart. You may have to make adjustments depending on the size of straw you use.

How cute are these paper straws? I found them at Target when all of the Christmas items were being clearanced. By now I’m sure you’ve noticed how I love picking up clearance that can be repurposed. Red Christmas items are especially perfect to save for Valentine’s Day. I only wish I would have picked up more. Am I the only one that thinks drinking through a paper straw makes any drink taste a thousand times better?

I love how these look with the paper straws. Wouldn’t they be great on pencils too?
