Creative Train Play With “Snow”

This is so simple it’s kind of silly to even share, but playing with “snow” has been a huge hit. While he’s perfectly content with his trains just the way they are, I’m trying to find simple and inexpensive ways to change it up a bit. I grabbed a pack of cotton balls when we ran into Target the other night and figured they’d make great snowballs. As soon as we got home I threw a few handfuls on top of his train tracks and told him it was snow. He was sold.

Who knew a dollar’s worth of cotton balls could buy this kind of happiness?

Here come Hero and Percy plowing through the snow. Two years into this train obsession of his and I’m finally getting their names right. Any other mommas have this issue? When I mix up their names up he gives me this look like “Really mom?” and instantly corrects me.

While I’m on a roll, I’ll explain to you that this is James….I think.

It’s been a few days and he’s still excited about playing with the “snow”. Yesterday he told me Thomas wanted to go get ice cream. I think we might have to get a little creative and make some buildings soon.

Since I snuck this picture of my cutie you get to see this huge Thomas whistle he got from his grandparents for Christmas. How cool is that? The best part is he finally figured out how to blow in it himself which means he’s not begging us to do it every five seconds. It also isn’t as loud as the wooden whistles…thank goodness!

You know I’m totally doing this. Thanks for the tip. Henry will adore it.

Surprisingly we’ve only had one short day of snow all winter. This might be all the snow my poor kid is going to get.

It looks like you all have been getting your fair share of snow. Maybe you can convince Henry this is as good as the real deal so you can stay nice and toasty inside, haha :)
