Someone I love is taking on a new job. Congratulations are in order! Since I show my love by making things, I had to make a card to send his way. He is as dapper as they come so this dress shirt & tie card fits him perfectly!

What could be better than a handmade card? A handmade card with a giftcard to Starbucks! The pocket is perfect for sneaking in a little congratulatory treat.

The only giftcards they had at Starbucks at the time were somewhat plain. I wanted something with a little more excitement. We are celebrating here after all! I use my Silhouette to decorate everything else. Why not use it to jazz up a giftcard? With a few minutes and some gold adhesive vinyl I came up with this beauty….

Now that’s better!

Since my handwriting is pretty much the worst I like to rely on my sketch pens to do the writing. It is a little hard to see in this picture, but the quote is done in a black glitter sketch pen. I like the subtle shimmer of it. After the work I put into the card it is nice for the inside not to look like a three year old scribbled in it. Hooray for sketch pens!

For the card I used Lori Whitlock’s “gift card holder: father’s day shirt” which you can find here in the Silhouette Online Store. The font used on the inside of the card is “LiSong Pro” and for the vinyl on the giftcard I used “Mona Lisa Solid ITC TT”. Apparently I really like using Lori Whitlock’s designs. I don’t do it on purpose. I always search the Silhouette Online Store with a word and then look for something I like. It just so happens that her designs catch my eye before I even notice they’re from her. Does anyone else gravitate towards a certain artist without even meaning to? For what it’s worth her designs have been great to work with.
