More Baking, Less Mess

Who else is ready for all that holiday baking? I am! I am! Cookies, brownies, bread…you name it I’ll gladly bake it. I’ve been hearing a lot about silicone baking mats. Non-stick surface, easy clean up, even baking…I was definitely intrigued. Well, I’ve finally given them a try and there is no going back. I’m hooked for life! Frazoni graciously sent me their non-stick silicone baking mat to try out. Let me show you why I’m never, ever baking without one again!

A review of Frazoni's non-stick silicone baking mat...plus a giveaway!

I mixed up a batch of my favorite homemade cookies. I didn’t have to put parchment paper down or spray the baking sheet with anything. I just put the Frazoni silicone baking mat down and it was ready for the cookie dough. Super, duper easy. When they came out of the oven they were evenly cooked. I’ve never had cookies bake that evenly and thought it was just the oven being wonky. It was a nice surprise!

After letting the cookies cool for a minute they slid right off. I didn’t need a spatula and nothing stuck to the mat. The silicone baking mat distributes heat so evenly that the cookies came out crispy on the outside but still soft and chewy on the inside. Perfection!

If you look closely at the last couple of pictures you can see some red marks on the baking mat. Those are from the M&Ms I used and I was sure they were going to stain. The mat was much easier to clean than your typical cookie sheet. I wiped the mat with a soapy sponge, rinsed it with water, and dried it off.

The red marks came right off. All it took was a gentle wash to get the silicone baking mat looking like new again.

Since the baking mat is so thin and flexible you can roll it up and store it easily. This is a huge bonus for me since I’m always running out of space in the kitchen!

If you reduce your baking temperature by about 25° the candy coating on the m&ms won’t crack.
